Jammu, Feb 19: The 360 Hours Theatre Training was successfully concluded today at Studio Rangyug which is emerging as a new destination & address for the cultural happenings in the winter capital of the state of Jammu & Kashmir.
360 Hours Theatre Training -a unique programme first of its kind was launched from 22nd October 2017 by Rangyug- a theatre group dedicated to Self Realisation & Social Change through the dynamic medium of Theatre since last 34 years and is a well known name in the country as well as International Theatre Scene.
To enrich the finally selected 15 young aspirants, the programme was designed to invite various experts and practitioners in theatre & allied arts from J&K and other parts of the country. Phonsok Ladhakhi from Leh, Shilpa Gupta from Dehli, Priya Dutta, Aditya Bharti and Pankaj Sharma from Jammu besides Rangyug's faculty Raj Kumar Behrupia, Soham Kashyap & Juhie Mohan successfully imparted the training. The training was conducted under the supervision of master trainer and an accomplished director Deeepak Kumar.
During the training the emphasis was on educating the basics and fundamentals of theatre viz., Acting Styles from method to modern, Voice& Speech, Body movements, Theatre Music, Lights & Sets designing and execution, costume designing, and making space for theatre et al, besides understanding of our cultural heritage and rich literature.
Andha Yug is based on the ancient Sanskrit epic, Mahabharata written by Ved Vyasa. The play begins on the eighteenth and last day of the Great Mahabharata War, which devastated the kingdom of Kauravas, the feuding cousins of Pandavas, their capital the once-magnificent Hastinapur lay burning, in ruins, the battlefield of Kurukshetra was strewn with corpses, and skies filled with vultures and death laments. Fatalities were on both sides as cousins killed each other. The survivors were left grieved and enraged as they continued to blame each other for the destruction. No one was willing to view it as a consequence of their own moral choices.
Priya Sethi, Minister of State for Education, Horticulture& Floriculture, Technical Education, Tourism & Culture was the Chief Guest who also distributed the certificates of participation to the young aspirants. Prof Nirmal Kamal, Chairperson Social Welfare Board, Dr Aziz Hajini, Secretary, J & K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, and Simrandeep Singh, Chairman JKSSB were the Guests of Honours.
