CRPF Jawan Commits Suicide at Amethi Group Centre

A 33-year-old CRPF jawan allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with an AK 47 rifle at his group centre here on Friday, 28 February, police said, reported ANI.

The jawan was posted at CRPF group centre in Trishundi under Pipapur police station, they said.

Station House Officer Ravindra Singh said the jawan has been identified as Hiranya Das, a resident of Assam.

Atishi Appointed In-Charge of Aap's Goa Unit, Jarnail Singh of Punjab Unit

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday appointed its MLAs Atishi and Jarnail Singh as in-charge of the party's Goa and Punjab units respectively. The AAP would soon start organisation building operations in the two states, according to a statement.

"The AAP on Friday appointed Atishi, senior leader and MLA from Kalkaji, as the state in-charge of Goa, and Tilak Nagar MLA Jarnail Singh as the state in-charge of Punjab," it said.

The aim of these appointments is to take the 'Arvind Kejriwal model of development' forward, the AAP said.

22-Year-Old Man Tries to Kill Self at Mandi House Metro Station

A 22-year-old man allegedly tried to kill himself by jumping in front of a moving train at Mandi House metro station on Friday evening, delaying services on the rapid transit system, police said.

"Around 6 pm Friday, he jumped in front of a moving train at Mandi House metro station. He was taken to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital Hospital where he is undergoing treatment," a senior police officer said.

He is a resident of DDA Officers Flats on Bhagwan Das Road. The man was identified through his mobile phone and his maternal uncle has been informed about the incident, police said.

Ayodhya's Ram Temple Construction Panel Chief Mishra Meets UP CM

Nripendra Mishra, the chairman of the Ram Temple Construction Committee, met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday a day before his proposed visit to Ayodhya initiate the process for preparing a blueprint for construction of the temple.

Mishra's meeting with the chief minister was described as a courtesy call by a senior government official, who said the meeting lasted for nearly half an hour.

Mishra will also be visiting Ayodhya on Saturday, he added.

3 Dead, 25 Injured in Blast at Factory in Haryana's Bahadurgarh

Three people were killed and 25 others injured in a powerful blast at a factory in Bahadurgarh in Haryana's Jhajjar district on Friday, police said.

Station House Officer (SHO) Vijender Singh said an adjacent factory was destroyed and around five other factories were affected due to the impact of the blast.

"Three people died and at least 25 were injured after the powerful blast at the factory in Bahadurgarh," the SHO told PTI over the phone.

CBI Registers FIR Against Export Company for Rs 604 Crore Bank Fraud

The CBI on Friday conducted searches at the premises of directors of Shree Bankey Behari Exports Pvt Ltd after booking them and the company in a bank fraud case of Rs 604 crore, officials said.

The agency has booked Shree Bankey Behari Exports Limited and its directors Amarchand Gupta, Shakuntala Devi, Ramlal Gupta, Rajkumar Gupta and unidentified others in the fraud case, they said.

The State Bank of India has complained to the CBI alleging that the company has availed credit facilities to the tune of Rs 625 crore (approx) and cheated members of consortium banks by way of forgery and using forged documents as genuine, the officials said.

NIA Arrestes Magrey, Who Provided Shelter, Assistance to Adil Ahmad Dar

NIA arrested Shakir Bashir Magrey, an over-ground worker of JeM. He had provided shelter and other logistical assistance to the suicide-bomber Adil Ahmad Dar.

He has revealed that he had harboured Adil Ahmad Dar and Pakistani terrorist Mohd Umar Farooq in his house from late 2018 till the attack in February 2019, and assisted them in the preparation of the IED. He has been remanded to 15 days of NIA custody for detailed interrogation.

Passenger Tweets '5 Bombs in Dibrugarh Rajdhani', Train Stopped at Dadri

The Railways has halted Friday's New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express at Dadri near here and pressed security agencies into action after a passenger claimed there were "5 bombs in the train", officials said.

Responding to the tweet, the Superintendent of Government Railway Police, Agra, wrote from its official handle, "Regarding the above information, all the senior officers have been made aware that the train is being stopped at the post GRP Dadri and is being checked with the joint efforts of RPF and GRP," it said in a tweet.

Nepal's Former Deputy PM Injured in Road Accident

Nepal's former deputy prime minister CP Mainali and four others were injured when their car collided with a pick-up truck coming from the opposite direction, police said on Friday.

The accident took place on Thursday when Mainali and his family members were on their way to Kathmandu from Jhapa, according to District Police Office, Mahottari.

He is currently undergoing medical treatment at Grande International Hospital in Kathmandu.

Four others, including Mainali's son Saroj, daughter-in-law Puja, grandson and driver Ram Prasad Poudyal were injured in the accident.

Erdogan, Putin Hold Phone Talks After Turkish Troops Killed in Syria: Lavrov

President Vladimir Putin and Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday discussed implementing agreements for Syria's northern region of Idlib after 33 Turkish soldiers were killed by Syrian fire, Russia's foreign minister said Friday.

"There is always room for dialogue. Today there were phone talks between presidents Putin and Erdogan... The conversation was detailed and devoted to the necessity to do everything" to implement agreements on Idlib, Sergei Lavrov told reporters.

Mar-May Period Likely to be Warmer than Normal: IMD

The months of March, April and May are "likely to be warmer than normal" over northwest, west, central and parts of south India, the India Meteorological Department said on Friday in its summer forecast.

Above normal heat wave conditions are also likely in the core heat wave (HW) zone during the season (March-May), it said.

The core HW zone covers the states of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha and Telangana and parts of Maharashtra and coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Woman Among Three of Family Injured in Slab Collapse in Mumbai

Three members of a family, including a woman, were injured when a portion of a ceiling slab in a residential building collapsed here on Friday morning, said a civic official.

The family members resided on the first floor of the four-storey 'Trimurti' building at Natvar Nagar in suburban Jogeshwari, he said.

Around 6 am, part of a slab of the ceiling on the second floor crashed on them, injuring the trio, the official said.

The injured were admitted in a nearby private hospital, said the officer.

"The woman has suffered severe injuries and is being treated in the ICU," he said.

Balakot Airstrikes Sent Out Clear Message on Terrorism: Rajnath

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said the Balakot airstrikes had sent out a clear message that infrastructure across the border could not be used as safe havens for terrorists.

“If we've to be prepared for the tasks assigned to us, then it's important we maintain credible deterrence at land, air and sea at all times,” Singh said at the Centre for Air Power Studies.

Balakot airstrike conveyed India's clear message that infrastructure across the border won't be safe haven for terrorists. It forced rewriting of doctrines across the border, showed the country's resolve and capability, the defence minister said.

SC to Hear Plea for Transferring Rape Case Against Chinmayanand

The Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear on 2 March the plea of complainant law student that the rape case against former union minister Swami Chinmayanand be transferred to a Delhi court from Uttar Pradesh.

A bench headed by Chief Justice S A Bobde was told by senior advocate Collin Gonsalves, appearing for the complainant woman that the rape case be transferred to Delhi as she apprehended a threat to her life in Uttar Pradesh.

The bench, while agreeing to hear the matter, asked the lawyer to approach the administration for seeking protection.

Gonsalves, however, said that a gunman has been given to her by the UP Police for her security.

Earlier also a plea was filed against the Allahabad High Court order granting bail to Chinmayanand.

SC Holds Advocates' Strike in Uttarakhand Courts 'Illegal'
