The northeast monsoon or “amihan” would prevail over northern Luzon, while the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) would persist over southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday afternoon, Oct. 25.

In the next 24 hours, the amihan would bring cloudy conditions with light to moderate rains over Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

It may also bring partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated light rains over Ilocos Region.

The northeast wind flow is expected to gradually become more dominant and bring cold and dry air over Northern Luzon after PAGASA officially declared the onset of amihan season in the country.

It added that surges of cold temperatures will likely prevail in the coming months.

Meanwhile, cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) would prevail over Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Albay, Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Sorsogon, and Masbate.

The rest of the country would continue to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the ITCZ and localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA reminded the public to remain vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Moreover, a tropical depression located west of Palawan, and a tropical storm with an international name “Malou” located east of Luzon are seen to remain outside the Philippine area of responsibility in the coming days, said weather specialist Ana Clauren.

She added that these weather disturbances will have no direct effect on the country.
