Diana Ross will receive a lifetime achievement accolade at the American Music Awards next month (Nov18).

The Supremes star will also perform at the prizegiving ceremony on 19 November (17) in Los Angeles.

"It took a lifetime to get here, I'm not going anywhere," the singer tells the Associated Press. "It's been a wonderful journey for me, of joy and much appreciation."

It is the first time the award has been given since 2006, when Sting was honoured. Previous recipients also include Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and Michael Jackson.
