Delhi violence: Shah holds meetingBy uniindia
New Delhi, Feb 27 (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah here on Thursday held a meeting to review the situation and law and order at violence-hit northeast Delhi.
The Home Minister was briefed by the Delhi Police that 34 persons have lost their lives in the incidents since February 24 and situation slowly returning to normal.

The Delhi Police also informed that so far 48 FIRs, pertaining to clashes, loss of lives, property, have been registered and further FIRs would be registered in due course.
As many as 514 people were detained for questioning and more people could be arrested, the Minister was apprised.
They also informed that two SITs were set up for investigating serious offences and nearly 7,000 para-military forces have been deployed in the affected areas of northeast.

The Union Home Minister was also briefed that three Special CPs, six Joint CPs, one Additional CP, 22 DCPs, 20 ACPs, 60 Inspectors, 1,200 other ranks and 200 lady police personnel were deployed under the overall supervision of Commissioner of Police to effectively guide and supervise Police response so as to contain and normalise the situation.

Mr Shah was also apprised that as there was no major incident reported in the last 36 hours in any parts of northeast district and prohibitory order under 144 would be relaxed for a total of 10 hours with the improvement in ground situation on Friday.
The Delhi Police further apprised him that two Security personnel sacrificed their lives in the line of duty to restore law and order.
Besides, nearly 70 Police personnel and senior officers have been injured in these unfortunate incidents.

Adequate steps have been taken to ensure medical support to the injured.

Movement of traffic on the highway and connecting roads was returning to normal.
Meanwhile,the Union Home Minister has appealed to citizens not to believe in rumours and fall prey to evil designs of miscreants and groups interested in precipitating communal tension.

The meeting was attended by Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnayak and Special Commissioner (L&W) SN Srivastava.
