It's not quite a Mike Trout deal, but Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman is getting paid, and deservedly so.

Earlier in the evening it was reported that the two sides were working on a contract extension, and according to reports, the deal is done. Bregman has agreed to six-year, $100 million extension to remain in Houston.

Arguably the cornerstone of the Astros franchise is now under contract for two years after his next four years of arbitration eligibility (including this year), and it's a phenomenal deal for both sides.

For one, it helps everyone avoid the headache that is arbitration, which can sometimes create tension between teams and players. Secondly, Bregman is getting handsomely paid in his first two free agency years and will get a chance to sign another sizable contract at the age of 30.

Bregman is coming off his first career All-Star season after hitting a league-leading 51 doubles in addition to registering 105 runs scored, 31 home runs, 103 RBI and a slash line of .286/.394/.532. His first two MLB season have been wildly successful and the Astros have been a top team in the league for the past three seasons, making this deal all the more sensible for both parties.

Look for Bregman to be locked in for the 2019 campaign now that his financial situation is settled for the foreseeable future.
