66,999 New COVID-19 Cases Take India’s Tally to 23.96 Lakh; Biggest 1-Day Spike

India on Thursday reported 66,999 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally in the country to 23,96,638, in what is the biggest one-day spike yet. Meanwhile, the death toll increased by 942 to 47,033.

According to the Union Health Ministry data, there are currently 6,53,622 active cases across the country, while 16,95,982 patients have been discharged.

2.68 Cr Samples Tested for COVID-19 So Far: ICMR

The total number of samples tested for COVID-19 till 12 August stood at 2,68,45,688, including 8,30,391 samples tested on Wednesday, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.

608 New COVID-19 Cases in Rajasthan

Rajasthan has recorded 608 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally in the state 56,708, including 833 deaths.

1,981 New COVID-19 Cases in Odisha; 1,931 in Telangana

Odisha on Wednesday reported 1,981 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally in the state to 52,653.

Meanwhile, Telangana had reported 1,931 new cases and 11 fatalities, taking its tally to 86,475 and the death toll to 665.

956 COVID-19 cases were reported in Delhi on Thursday, 13 August, according to the Delhi State Health Bulletin. 913 cases were reported to have been recovered, discharged or migrated. 14 deaths were also reported.
