Many people thought that Cersei’s end in the final season of Game of Thrones was as disappointing as her bowl cut. In fact, many thought the final season itself was complete disaster, so much so that 1.6 million people (and counting) signed a Change.org petition to re-shoot the last season.

While the fans have been very vocal with their disappointment, many of the stars have kept their lips sealed about any disappointment they had with D.B. Weiss and David Benioff’s final decisions. However, Lena Headey has been pretty open.

Headey, who played Queen Cersei, has spoken up again about her regrets with the show. The actress sat down with The Guardian and explained that she had some qualms with Lannister’s end.

“I will say I wanted a better death,” Heady admitted.

For those that don’t know, Cersei was crushed by falling masonry from the crumbling Red Keep along with her brother-lover Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). As The Guardian writes, “It was an underwhelming end, to put it politely.”

I would add that maybe it was a polite end--too polite--for the crazy queen.

Headey added, “Obviously you dream of your death. You could go in any way on that show. So I was kind of gutted. But I just think they couldn’t have pleased everyone. No matter what they did, I think there was going to be some big comedown from the climb.”

And Headey couldn’t be more right. The “comedown” in this case was the series receiving the poorest ratings in the show’s history.

Maybe, like Headey, we just wanted characters to have better deaths.
