Patriots Sign Undrafted DII Cornerback as Wide Receiver in Latest Effort to Embarrass the LeagueBy 12Up

You have to give Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots credit for finding talent in the most obscure places. They've even dug into Division II and the Bemidji State Beavers to find their next special teams ace.

The Patriots have signed wide receiver, returner, and special teamer Gunner Olszweski on Thursday, and yes, you already hate him.

Olszweski was actually a record-breaking defensive back in college who won his conference's Defensive Player of the Year award and made first team All-Conference as a special teamer. In Patriots camp, Belichick converted him to wide receiver, where his speed and soft hands will give the team more value.

Which makes you wonder: why...didn't...anyone...draft him?

Olszweski will likely see the field as a return man or a, um...gunner on special teams.

With any other team, this would be the most garden variety camp signing possible. However, this is New England, so look forward to Olszewski catching nine passes for 108 yards and two touchdowns in the AFC Championship Game at some point.
