Nitish Kumar requests PM to intervene for ending the fast of Sadhvi PadmavatiBy uniindia
Patna, Jan 23 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today requested the Prime Minister
Narendra Modi to immediately intervene and end the fast of Sadhvi Padmavati of Nalanda
District being observed for past one year for maintaining the flow of river Ganges.

Kumar wrote a letter to the Prime Minister drawing his attention towards the ongoing
fast of Sadhvi since January 15, 2019 at Matri Sadan Ashram in Haridwar over the issue.

Referring to the the efforts of PM for maintaining the flow of river Ganga and his
discussions with him on the issue on several occasions, Mr Kumar said that in view of the
condition of Sadhvi, immediate intervention to end her fast was essential to save her life.
Referring to two important seminars held at Patna in 2017 on the issue of obstructed flow
of river Ganga and another one held the same year at Delhi on the topic of problem of silt
hindering the flow of river Ganga, he said that in both of the seminars some resolutions
where adopted to solve the problems related to River Ganga.
The two resolutions named as Patna Declaration in Delhi Declaration were sent to the
Jal Shakti ministry for necessary action.

Mr Kumar said that the Centre must be working on both of the resolutions for maintaining
the flow of river Ganges.
Through his letter, Mr Kumar urged the Prime Minister to immediately initiate steps for
ending the fast of the Sadhvi.
