Manila, Jan. 17 -- Police arrested five people and seized firearms and illegal drugs in separate anti-drug operations here in the region, an official said Friday. Maj. Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) information officer, identified the suspects as Jerlie Glaban, 30; Julhussin Asanulla, 35; Galizardo Enggo, 25; Sattal Ambotong, 44; and, Jerman Anserong, 37. Galvez said Glaban, who was arrested in a buy-bust around 2:30 a.m. Thursday in Sindangan town, Zamboanga del Norte, yielded 11 sachets of suspected shabu, PHP500 marked money, and illegal drug paraphernalia. Meanwhile, police said they recovered from Asanulla some PHP5,000 worth of suspected shabu when arrested in a buy-bust around 3 a.m. Thursday in Sitio Lupa-Lupa, Barangay Rio Hondo. Asanulla also yielded a caliber .45 pistol with ammunition, a camouflage police uniform, and PHP200 marked money, police added. On the other hand, police said Enggo was arrested in possession of some PHP10,400 worth of suspected shabu and PHP200 marked money around 5:30 a.m. Thursday in Zone 1, Barangay Cawit. Ambotong, meanwhile, was arrested in a buy-bust operation around 7:10 p.m. Thursday in Sitio Hongkong, Barangay Rio Hondo, this city, police said. Recovered from his possession were PHP1,500 worth of suspected shabu, PHP200 marked money and a 9-mm pistol with ammunition, police added. Police said Anserong yielded some PHP3,000 worth of suspected shabu, PHP500 marked money, and illegal drug paraphernalia when arrested around 9:45 p.m. Thursday in Barangay Morob, Leon Postigo, Zamboanga del Norte. Galvez said appropriate charges are set to be filed against the suspects.
