Blue Jays Reportedly Showed Some Interest in Indians' Francisco LindorBy 12Up

The Toronto Blue Jays have had a successful offseason already, but they're still doing their due diligence on some of the biggest stars on the trade market.

Still in search of a shortstop, Canada's team has reportedly checked in with the Cleveland Indians on one of the top players in baseball in Francisco Lindor.

It's certainly interesting that the Jays have their eyes on the shortstop. He'd give them some much needed defensive depth in the infield, especially considering Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. combined for an appalling -20 infield outs above average in 2019.

Lindor would also round out the Blue Jays' lineup perfectly. If Bichette were to move to another position in the infield as he's capable of doing, he could round out the top of the batting order.

But it appears as though acquiring Lindor is likely more of a pie-in-the-sky idea than anything else. After shipping out Corey Kluber, the Indians seem to be easing off on their push to trade their star shortstop.

And after addressing their most pressing need with the signing of Hyun-Jin Ryu, a trade for another superstar would be more of a luxury than a necessity.

At the very least, though, the Blue Jays have done their homework on one of the game's most well-rounded shortstops.
