German Ambassador visits RSS headquarters, calls on its chief in NagpurBy uniindia
Nagpur, Jul 17 (UNI) Ambassador of Germany to India, Walter J Lindner, on Wednesday visited the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters here and met RSS chief Dr Mohan Bhagwat.
Mr Lindner tweeted about his visit to the RSS headquarters, mentioning that he had a “long meeting” with RSS Sarsangchalak Dr Bhagwat.
The diplomat, however, also described that the organisation has had a controversial past.

"Founded in 1925, it is the world’s largest voluntary organisation -- though not uncontroversialy perceived throughout its history...
(sic)," he wrote.
Mr Lindner took charge as Germany's Ambassador to India in May this year.
He was in headlines soon after his appointment for his bright red Ambassador car.
On Wednesday, Mr Lindner posted photographs of a visit to the headquarters of the RSS, which is regarded as the ideological fountainhead of the BJP, with most senior leaders of the ruling party, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, having their origins in the organisation.
It may be mentioned here that in 2017, Mr Bhagwat addressed a meeting of diplomats from over 50 countries, which was organised by the India Foundation, a pro-right-wing think tank.
In the interactive session, Dr Bhagwat talked about the work of RSS and the nature of its relationship to the Modi government, which he characterised as non-interfering.
