Chief Justice of India Deepak Misra calls on youth to curb traffickingBy IndiaToday

Using technology to combat the evolving ways of human trafficking was the area of focus at an international conference jointly organised by the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation in Law (SAARC LAW) and Justice and Care, a non-profit organisation working against human trafficking.

The conference was attended by several judges and legal dignitaries of the SAARC region. Chief Justice of India Deepak Misra, Acting Chief Justice of Delhi High Court Geeta Mittal and Attorney General KK Venugopal also addressed the participants.

"Human trafficking has to be avoided and the younger generation has to be the torchbearers against it. It is a great menace to the present and future generation," Misra said.

"Commoditisation of human beings has become an industry and this is a growing industry which is not visible. Its a different kind of syndicate," he said.

Justice Mittal spoke about the need to pin down the demand and supply chains of trafficking and dive deep into the money trail that funds it. She said a law to penalise customers was needed to curb the menace.
