Rajkot may host India's first day-night Test against West Indies

BCCI tour and programs fixtures committee has agreed to hold a day-night Test match for the first time in India. They have sent a proposal for the same to the Committee of Administrators (COA) for their final approval.

If COA approves the proposal, one of the two Test matches with West Indies (most likely the Rajkot Test in October) will be played as a day-night contest.

COA head Vinod Rai had earlier instructed the BCCI acting Secretary Amitabh Choudhary to put on hold any plans of a day-night Test saying he was concerned about "players body clock over five days."

But with former captain Sourav Ganguly also present in the committee proposing the same, it's unlikely that the COA may have any more reservations.

"It was an unanimous decision of the committee to host a day-night Test in India, the first of the two Tests vs West Indies in Rajkot and we have proposed this to the COA, who have to take a final call," Choudhary told India Today.

India along with Sri Lanka is the only other leading Test playing nation not to have experimented with pink ball cricket so far. Even Pakistan has played hosts to day-night Test cricket in their adopted home, UAE. Australia has played hosts to day-night Tests four times over and the games have been a huge hit with fans.
