Back in 2012, Karan Johar introduced Varun Dhawan to Bollywood with Student Of The Year, and since then, there has been no looking back for the actor. And after giving hits like Humpy Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Varun and filmmaker Shashank Khaitan are collaborating for KJo's Rannbhoomi.

This time the hit duo is shifting gears from romantic comedy to action drama. According to a report in DNA, the film is a revenge drama.

Varun took to Twitter to make the big announcement, and wrote, "#RANNBHOOMI. Diwali 2020. A warrior will rise.@karanjohar @ShashankKhaitan @DharmaMovies."

An excited Karan told the daily, "Rannbhoomi is Shashank's colossal and ambitious imagination to attempt a hat-trick with Varun and Dharma Productions."

Shashank added, "Rannbhoomi is a warrior film, which showcases love, relationships, sacrifices, revenge, and heroism. I remember, I began developing it in December 2015 and shared the idea with Varun, who got excited about it. Now, Karan has given us the wings to fly and we are excited to turn this dream into a reality."

The film is set to hit the screens in 2020.
