The buyers said the decision to intensify protests was taken after “realising” that the Noida, Greater Noida authorities and Gautam Budh Nagar district administration are unable to address their grievances.

Homebuyers will intensify their protest against delay in handover of flats and stage a demonstration outside Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s office in Lucknow after August 15.

They will hold a meeting with buyers from all Noida and Greater Noida realty projects on Sunday to plan the date of protest. The buyers said the decision to intensify protests was taken after “realising” that the Noida, Greater Noida authorities and Gautam Budh Nagar district administration are unable to address their grievances.

“Today (Wednesday), we met Gautam Budh Nagar district magistrate BN Singh and demanded that an FIR be lodged against the Amrapali Group promoter as he is not resuming construction at any of his sites despite the intervention of the Greater Noida or Noida authority. But the DM refused to help us. We plan to block the DND Flyway and also protest in Delhi outside the ministry of urban development,” said Abhishek Kumar president of Noida Extension flat owners’ welfare association.

After the Sunday meeting, buyers will release the schedule of their protests which will start after August 15.

Homebuyers had in April met Yogi Adityanath and other ministers demanding a speedy redressal of their issues. Following the CM’s instructions, Noida and Greater Noida authorities started tripartite (builder, buyer and officials) meetings with an aim to resolve realty sector issues.

“However, nothing has changed even after these meetings. The builders, particularly Amrapali Group, have not adhered to the instructions of the officials given in these meetings. If the builder is not obeying the official orders, then how will our issues be addressed? We want the chief minister to intervene and resolve our issues,” said Shweta Bharti, general secretary, Noida Extension flat owners’ welfare association.

Buyers met the DM in his camp office in Sector 27.

“I have suggested buyers that if the Noida authority will give its view that an FIR should be lodged against a particular builder, then I will issue an order on the same,” said BN Singh.
