MANILA, Philippines — The government has already completed the distribution of over P11-billion worth of financial aid to residents of Metro Manila who were affected by the implementation of enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in August, according to Interior Secretary Eduardo Año.

“Tapos na po ang pamamahagi ng ayuda sa National Capital Region (NCR). Ang kabuuang halaga na naipamahagi ay umabot na sa P11.25 billion kung saan mahigit 11 milyong benepisyaryo ng NCR ang nakatanggap na ng ayuda mula sa pamahalaan,” Año said during a taped meeting of Cabinet members with President Rodrigo Duterte aired on Thursday.

(The distribution of financial assistance in NCR was already completed. A total of P11.25 billion were provided to over 11 million beneficiaries.)

Año said the Makati City local government unit is set to return to the Bureau of Treasury some P29.4 million provided by the national government for the distribution because all its listed beneficiaries have already received their cash assistance.

For the ECQ last month, each low-income individual is entitled to receive P1,000 assistance or a maximum of P4,000 for each household affected by the strict lockdown.

Meanwhile, P2.3 billion or 87 percent of the P2.7 billion allocated to the Laguna province were already distributed, while P431 million or 61.73 percent of the P698 million amount allocated to Bataan were already distributed to beneficiaries, according to Año. Both provinces were likewise placed under ECQ in August.
