There are legitimate questions about Alex Smith playing football again, but what can't be denied is the fact that he's making excellent progress on his way back from the horrific leg injury he suffered last year. The Redskins quarterback was seen walking on FedEx Field field before Washington welcomes the Chicago Bears to town for Monday Night Football.

Smith and his wife Liz were also spotted with a camera crew standing at the 40-yard line, which is where Smith suffered the gruesome leg injury during a game late last season against the Houston Texans.

While he still has a bit of a limp, that's to be expected given the nature of the injury. He's clearly made a ton of progress since his near month-long stay in the hospital post-injury.

While Case Keenum has performed better than expected for a bridge quarterback and the Redskins drafted Dwayne Haskins to be their quarterback of the future, there's still a role for Smith on this roster as a veteran backup given how well he played last year.

The fact that he's up and walking so soon after the injury is a welcomed sign that's leaving everyone around the NFL beaming.
