Man Who Called Pak Skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed a Pig Issues Apology By TheQuint

Pakistan’s 89-run loss to India in the ongoing ICC World Cup has seen varied reactions from former players, fans and even current cricketers.

While Shoaib Akhtar went so far as to blame the loss on skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed, calling him a “brainless captain,” many also criticised Ahmed for not following the tips shared by Pakistan PM Imran Khan.

The team’s pictures at eateries and sheesha lounges have since been shared widely on social media, with fans blaming their night-outs for the loss.

However, one fan in particular crossed the line when he met Sarfaraz at a mall in London a few days back.

Ahmed can be seen carrying his son in the video, yet the ‘fan’ calls out to the skipper and asks him why he’s fat “as a pig.” While the cricketer elects to walk away, the man follows him and continues, saying: “you’ve become very fat, like a pig. You should diet less.”

The video has been widely shared on social media but unlike the previous posts against the Pakistan skipper, this one has been met with wide criticism at the personal remarks made on Ahmed in front of his son. Some users even urged the London police to take action against the man for harassing the cricketer.

Following all this, the man has now come out and issued an apology.

“I don’t know how that video got uploaded. I am very, very sorry. I myself am a Pakistani and I didn't realise this video would have such consequences. I know you all are very angry at me. I genuinely didn't think this issue would become so big. I had deleted the video. I didn't know he was with his son. I also didn't know he is Hafiz e Quran. Please forgive me if possible,” the man said in the video.
