New Delhi, June 13 (UNI) The much talked about Iftar party hosted by Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday here was attended among others by two former Presidents Pranab Mukherjee and Pratibha Patil.
In fact, Mr Gandhi was seated flanked by Mr Mukherjee and Ms Patil.
Among others, former Vice President Hamid Ansari, former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit were also present.
Representatives from various opposition parties were also present on the occasion, though stalwarts like Mamata Banerjee, Sharad Pawar and Mayawati were missed.
Trinamool Congress, which is taking a keen interest in forging an alliance against BJP for 2019 Parliamentary polls, was represented by former Union Minister Dinesh Trivedi.
The likes of Sharad Yadav, BSP leader Satish Chandra Mishra, Badruddin Ajmal of AIUDF, DMK leader Kanimozhi and Hemant Soren of JMM were also present.
The CPI(M) was represented by their General Secretary Sitaram Yechury, who was seen chatting intensely with for former Vice President Mr Ansari and DMK leader Kanimozhi.
Among the Congress leaders Gulam Nabi Azad, AK Antony, Prithviraj Chavan, Shashi Tharoor also attended the grand ceremony, which was also billed as an occasion of displaying opposition unity.
