Assault on JNU students was unjustified: AAP MLA Alka LambaBy IndiaToday

Denouncing the clash between students of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and Delhi Police, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders on Saturday said that the manner in which protesting students were assaulted was highly condemnable.

Students were protesting peacefully and marching towards the Parliament from the university without any noise but the police used batons and beat them up brutally... especially the way in which they were assaulted and thrown into the buses, said Atishi Marlena, party's spokesperson.

Party member and MLA from Chandni Chowk, Alka Lamba said that the assault on students who were demanding arrest of a professor accused of sexual harassment was unjustified.

"Nine daughters are asking for their protection in this protest. Why is their demand not being heard and why is a professor being shielded?" Lamba asked.

Marlena said that the party will request for a speedy investigation tigation into the matter.

"We will try to go and meet the home minister, Lieutenant Governor and Delhi Police commissioner regarding this matter and register our complaint about assault on students," Marlena said.
