New series on Amazon Prime Video this week: From Upload to AliasBy Evening Standard

A new month can mean only one thing – a whole host of new content available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.

As well as a plethora of outstanding movie content to stream to your heart’s content on the platform, the streaming service has a number of classic and original TV series to enjoy, as it has really stepped up a gear as it now competes with Disney+ and Netflix.

Here are the new series hitting up Prime Video this week.

Friday 1st May

Upload: Season 1 - Amazon Original series

The brand new sci-fi series is Black Mirror meets Altered Carbon, with an eerie new premise.

Set in the future, Upload sees humans now having the ability to ‘upload’ themselves to a preferred place for the ‘afterlife’. After the early demise of computer programmer Nathan Brown, he finds himself at the idyllic Lake View. As he adjusts to life away from his family, Nathan finds himself growing closer to his handler, the living Nora Antony. Starring Robbie Ammell and Andy Allo.

Sunday 3rd May

The Durrells: Season 4

The final series of the ITV comedy is now available to stream on Amazon Prime Video. While this eccentric family has seemingly knuckled down and gotten used to life in Corfu, the winds of war are blowing and the family are now considering having to move back to the UK – but will they be able to leave their love affairs (or, more pressingly, Gerry’s zoo) behind? Starring Line of Duty’s Keeley Hawes and The Crown’s Josh O’Connell.

Friday 8th May

Jimmy O. Yang: Good Deal - Amazon Original special

The comedian is coming to Amazon Prime Video for an exclusive, one-off special.

Performed live in the Neptune Theatre in Seattle, comedian and Crazy Rich Asians star Yang, 32, will bring his hilarious takes on having immigrant parents, whether his flat is haunted, and what he really makes of movie star Matt Damon.

Monday 11th May

Alias: Seasons 1-5

The full five series of JJ Abrams thriller series are available on Amazon Prime Video.

Originally on air from 2001-2006, the show follows Jennifer Garner as Sydney Bristow, who discovers she’s working for a counter-government unit and decides to become a double agent for the CIA.
