The State Bank of India (SBI) on Wednesday announced that its internet banking, mobile app YONO and YONO Lite, as well as UPI services won't be available for two hours on Thursday due to maintenance work. The bank asked its customers to bear with it.

"We request our esteemed customers to bear with us as we strive to provide a better banking experience," SBI said on Twitter. In the accompanying notice, SBI said, "We will be undertaking maintenance activities between 00:30 hrs and 02:30 hrs 17.06.2021. During this period, Internet Banking / YONO / YONO Lite / UPI will be unavailable. We regret the inconvenience caused and request you to bear with us."

The services of the SBI were disrupted on June 13 too for four hours due to maintenance activities. The same thing happened between May 21-23.

SBI has the largest network with over 22,000 branches and more than 57,889 ATMs across the country. As of December 31, 2020, it had 85 million internet banking and 19 million mobile banking users. The bank's number of UPI users stood at 135 million at December-end.

At present, the bank has 35 million registered users of YONO, the digital lending platform.

A similar outage in the mobile banking app of largest private sector lender HDFC Bank was reported on Tuesday. It was down for an hour due to unspecified issues. The bank had urged its customers to use the net banking alternative to transact in the interim.

Meanwhile, SBI Cards and Payment Services on Monday said its has raised ₹500 crore by issuing bonds.

Its board of directors has approved the allotment of 5,000 fixed rate, unsecured, rated, taxable, redeemable and senior non-convertible debentures aggregating to ₹500 crore on a private placement basis, SBI Card said in a regulatory filing.

The coupon on the bonds is 5.55 per cent per annum. The company said the bonds are set to mature on June 14, 2024.
