Liverpool intend to rebuff any further approaches for Xherdan Shaqiri this month after turning down loan offers from AS Roma and Sevilla.

A combination of injuries and the form of the Reds’ first-choice front three has restricted the Swiss to just three starts in all competitions so far this term.

However, manager Jurgen Klopp has no plans to allow Shaqiri to leave Anfield mid-season, with his team still fighting on three fronts.

Both Roma and Sevilla have failed in attempts to secure the 28-year-old on loan until the end of the campaign since the start of the January transfer window.

Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport claimed on Tuesday that Liverpool would demand €15m to consider the possibility of striking a permanent dealt this month.

However, Standard Sport understands that the Reds will expect at least twice as much were they to sell Shaqiri, and have no intention of striking any such deal until the summer.

At that point, the forward’s desire for regular football would be considered, though Liverpool will not sanction a loan move with a permanent option for a player they are in no rush to sell.

And they remain firm in their stance that the Switzerland international will be going nowhere before the end of the campaign.

Shaqiri was absent from the Reds squad that secured a 2-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday after suffering a minor knock in training.

However, he is aiming to resume training later this week and could return to the starting XI for Sunday’s FA Cup fourth-round visit to Shrewsbury.
