The Cap is out of the bag! Smart’s Hollywood A-Lister revealed

By Manila Bulletin

The cat is out of the bag! Or should we say, the ‘Cap’ is out and now everyone knows who the mystery man was on the first teaser ad that Smart showed in the last coupled of days in the @LiveSmart Twitter account.

Hollywood A-Lister and “lead star of the highest-grossing film of all time” Chris Evans is the newest brand ambassador to join in the roster of big names that the telco has signed up. This venture is also the first for a Filipino telecommunications company to have a Hollywood A-Lister enlisted in their brand campaigns.

Smart already scored major wins when they signed up K-pop boyband BTS and reel-to-real life K-drama couple superstars Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin in the telco’s advertisements.

In a two-minute video, The Avengers’ star is seen wearing a helmet and a black leather outfit, riding a motorcycle as he delivered a monologue about the concept of life and what people believes in. Chris shared in the video how our actions and “what we do affects the world around us.”

For people unaware, Chris is a staunch supporter of different advocacies, one of which is the same-sex marriage in 2012, stating: “It’s insane that civil rights are being denied people in this day and age. It’s embarrassing, and it’s heartbreaking. It goes without saying that I’m completely in support of gay marriage. In ten years, we’ll be ashamed that this was an issue.” The “Captain America” actor is also open when it comes to his political views. In July 2020, Evans launched a civic engagement app and website called A Starting Point, featuring short videos from both Republican and Democratic members of Congress and other U.S. politicians sharing perspectives on policy issues.

In the latest Smart ad campaign, Evans talks about life’s second chances and what we have to do about it. “Should we do good? Or should we do better?” he asked.

The video goes on and Chris arrived in a seemingly secret tech headquarter where he continued his engaging and inspiring words.

“Share more knowledge to build and not to destroy. Show the ways to heal and not to hurt. Let’s strive to live smarter, to make the world better. Because it doesn’t matter who, what, or where you are. We have the power to create a better world. Not just for ourselves, but for the good of all,” Chris goes on.

The COVID-19 pandemic has made a big impact on a global scale and many industries, and even the environment, felt the radical changes that it brought upon us.

“The world is now on reset and it’s giving us a second chance. We have it in our hands to do better. How do I know this? Simple, Smart ako. How about you? What are you prepared to do?” Chris continued as he mentioned Smart’s tagline before ending the speech.

Chris is proud to be a partner of Smart in launching its biggest initiative “Live Smarter for a Better World” which aims to inspire people to do better for all Better is Coming.

The ad campaign was reportedly shot in East Coast USA with a Hollywood crew but along the video, a montage of iconic Philippine culture, wildlife, and landscapes can be seen starting at 0:48 minute mark.
