A video from the sets of bilingual film on actor Savitri was posted by producer Swapna Dutt Chalasani on her Instagram page. It video gives viewers a glimpse into what the Mahanati team is up to.
Director Nag Ashwin can be seen looking at a screen and we hear the popular song “Vivaha Bhojanambu” from NTR. Savitri’s blockbuster film Maya Bazaar can also be seen in the background.
In the film, Dulquer Salmaan will play the role of actor Gemini Ganesan while Keerthy Suresh will portray Savitri. Samantha Akkineni will also play a pivotal part in this film.
Swapna’s caption reveals that a legendary actor may have a cameo in the film. She wrote, “When this man has that lil smile on his face...that means some legendary stuff is happening... #mahanati #legendonset #blessed.”

The song originally featured late actor SV. Ranga Rao and after social media updates from people who have been on the sets, it was confirmed that veteran actor Mohan Babu will play the role in the biopic. This clip also tells us that Maya Bazaar, a film that catapulted Savitri into fame, is going to be a big part of the film.
It will be made in Telugu and Tamil as Savitri made a huge mark in both the industries with her performances. Mahanati will document the journey of her life in the industry and outside of it. Produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, the film is currently being shot at Ramoji Film City, in Hyderabad. Samantha Akkineni is also back on set to shoot for her part in the film.
