Mariah Carey celebrates with private jet party as All I Want For Christmas breaks another music recordBy Evening Standard

Christmas may be over, but Mariah Carey’s influence is reigning on well into 2020. The singer was recently honoured as the first singer to top Billboard’s Hot 100 chart moving into 2020s, meaning that Carey is now the first artist ever to have a chart-topping hit in four separate decades. With such a grand cause for celebration, Carey and her team made the most of it with a mini private jet party.

Carey topped Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart this week thanks to an oldie but a goodie, her festive anthem ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’. This is actually the third week in a row that the song has charted at number one, but its first time on the 2020 list - joining the likes of Brenda Lee’s Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree and the less festive Circles by Post Malone.

Billboard confirmed the news in a tweet, which read, “.@MariahCarey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" is officially No. 1 on the #Hot100 for a third week. As this is the first chart of the 2020s, she becomes the first artist in history to rule the chart in four separate decades: 1990s, 2000s, 2010s & 2020s.”

Carey has had multiple number ones in each decade, with All I Want For Christmas Is You in the 2020s and 2010s, We Belong Together in the 2000s and Always Be My Baby in the 1990s just to name a few. Ironically, All I Want For Christmas is one of her oldest songs and turned 25 this year - which prompted Carey to re-release the song complete with a new music video.

The diva retweeted Billboard’s tweet and also responded, “Yaaaaaaaaay!!! WE. DID. IT. 🐑🍾🎊🎉💖🥳🤯”

She continued, “But.... what’s a decade?”

A couple of hours later, the star was able to pull together the most glamorous last minute party. She shared a video of herself and her team “celebrating on the move” as they danced on the steps of a private jet, all while confetti poppers went off and glasses of champagne were poured. She toasted to the camera with one of them, before clinking her glass against two of her team’s.

For a slapdash effort, it was still an impressive one - especially as their plane appeared to be parked in a wintry wonderland. As the camera panned to the side tree-laden snowy mountains could be seen.

Of course, Carey and her team also dressed for the occasion with the singer seen wearing a glamorous coat with Louis Vuitton monogrammed lining. In the background, another woman was seen waving and cheering in a pair of Gucci track pants.
