By Evening Standard

Almost €2million worth of jewellery has been stolen from a store close to the Champs-Elysee in Paris.

A man allegedly arrived at the store on a stand-up scooter, and brandished a weapon inside the store during its opening hours before fleeing again on the vehicle, according to the Le Parisien newspaper.

The prosecutor’s office said it had opened an investigation but they did not confirm initial estimates of the loot.

Chaumet is one of the France’s oldest jewellery brands, which is owned by luxury goods conglomerate LVMH.
