Joe Judge Saying Giants Offense Will Look Like Cowboys Under Jason Garrett Should Make Fans ShudderBy 12Up

The New York Giants looked to finally have hope after the hiring of new head coach Joe Judge. The Giants' free agency was relatively solid, while their NFL Draft was one of the best in the league, giving the fanbase high confidence in 2020 and beyond. But if there was one move that had fans second guessing the new regime, it was the hire of former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett as their offensive coordinator.

Those diehards can't be feeling much better, as Judge revealed during a conference call on Tuesday that New York's offense will be similar Garrett's offense with the Cowboys.

A chill just ran down the spines of Giants fans everywhere after reading Judge's quote. But, we'll make them feel a little better.

During Garrett's 13 years leading the Cowboys offense, they ranked in the top-seven in total yards per game each season. In 2019, Dallas ranked first in total yards per game (431.5), but you'd have to attribute that to Dak Prescott having the likes of Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup to throw to, with the added luxury of handing the rock over to Ezekiel Elliott on running plays.

To the shock of no one, the Giants don't have the same explosive offense like their NFC East rivals had. Yes, they have Saquon Barkley to work his magic, but quarterback Daniel Jones lacks top-tier weapons in the passing game. The only shining star is Darius Slayton, who tallied 740 yards and eight touchdowns during his rookie year. It doesn't really help that the Giants didn't capitalize on the deep wide receiver class in the draft, but to each their own.

Either way, Judge said he'd implement the schemes Garrett used in Dallas, while also utilizing some offensive play calls from Alabama head coach Nick Saban during his time as a special teams assistant (2009-11).

But just hope Judge doesn't lean on Garrett during crunch time, because history has shown us that he's incapable of succeeding in those situations.
