India, Sept. 23 -- BJP Kisan Morcha national vice-president Maheswar Sahoo visited a poor farmer of Khandiabandha, Artabandhu Rout, who attempted suicide out of frustration at the Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), family members of a deceased farmer Aswini Sahoo and drought-affected areas in Kamagara and Bijadihi villages of Kamakhyanagar Assembly constituency along with leader Debashisha Hota. Rout's family said that they are debt-ridden. Similarly, Sahoo met deceased Aswin's family members at Beltikiri village. He was accompanied by former MLA Krushna Chandra Patra and Hota. It was known that Aswini took the extreme step for the same loan stress. Aswini's son told that his father had brought loans of more than 2 lakh from different sources only for agricultural purposes.The BJP Morcha vice president Sahoo demanded that the State Government provide adequate compensation to both the poor farmer families immediately.

Then Sahoo visited farm lands in Kamagara and Bijadiha villages in Kamakhyanagar block and took stock of the drought situation. The affected farmers said they too were reeling under loan burden.

Sahoo met farmer leader Ranjan Kumar Lenka at his residence in Rekula, who was attacked by goons. He blamed the attack and alleged that the Naveen Patnaik Government-led BJD Government was for the mining mafias.
