The China collection of Secret Superstar overtook the film's lifetime collection in India on just the second day of its release. The film had performed well at the box office in Taiwan, as well.

Secret Superstar is getting a lot of love from the Chinese audience and has an impressive audience rating on ticketing and fan rating sites there. In fact, the ratings of Secret Superstar are even higher than Dangal, which raked in over Rs 1000 crore in China.

Secret Superstar, which marks the directorial debut of Advait Chandan, revolves around Insia (Zaira Wasim), a 15-year-old girl from Vadodara who dreams of becoming a singing sensation, much to the dislike of her abusive father. She then finds fame as an anonymous burkha-clad YouTube sensation, Secret Superstar, whose videos promptly go viral.
