Andhra BJP leaders meet Amit Shah as war of words with former ally TDP intensifiesBy IndiaToday

A day after key ally Telugu Desham Party (TDP) broke off from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), top leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Andhra Pradesh unit met party president Amit Shah at his residence on Saturday to discuss further strategy to counter the TDP allegations against Modi government over the issue of special status to the state.

The meeting was also attended by senior leaders like Ram Madhav and GVL Narsimha Rao.

BJP's leader in AP assembly Vishnu Kumar Raju spoke to India Today on the crucial meeting.

"Amit Shah has given overall outlook to how to go about it, we will take this issue to the masses, no other govt has done so much favours to any state like AP," he said. He further added "Andhra CM Chandrababu Naidu has managed to create a wrong impression that NDA has done nothing for the state, we will go into public to tell the truth, our govt has given the most."

Raju said, "We knew it was coming, it is their habit, it's not the first time they have done such a thing but good for us it has come when elections are one year ahead, it would have been problem if it would have come two-three months before elections. Chandrababu Naidu just wants sympathy of people, they are being misled by his party."

He also said, "BJP is trying to prop up Pawan Kalyan against Chandrababu Naidu is a baseless blame, TDP leaders have been alleging. Our govt helped Jagan with ED cases also, they are just trying to blame BJP for everything."

On a possible tie up with Pawan Kalyan's Jana Sena in the upcoming elections, he said, "I don't know what's going to happen after one year, after Pawan Kalyan accusations against TDP govt on corruption front, their graph went down."
