New Delhi, May 31 (UNI) In the wake of Coronavirus pandemic and lockdown to contain the spread of virus, Delhi government has sought Rs 5,000 crore as assistance from the Centre, a senior Minister in Arvind Kejriwal's cabinet informed on Sunday.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia wrote to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and sought the said amount citing shortage of revenue.
"I have written to the Union Finance Minister asking for an amount of Rs 5,000 for Delhi. Tax collection of Delhi government is declining by around 85 per cent due to Corona and lockdown," Mr Sisodia, who also holds the Finance portfolio wrote in a social media post.
The Minister also claimed that Delhi government has not received any fund from the Disaster Relief Fund released by the Centre.
