Braves Reportedly Sign Veteran OF Matt Joyce After Release From Indians

This isn't exactly the Braves flexing their financial muscle, but Atlanta has added to their outfield depth by signing Matt Joyce.

Surely not the move Braves fans are clamoring for, Joyce provides Atlanta with yet another veteran outfield options within the organization, assuming he actually sticks around this time. Joyce has been apart of three organizations in just the past week alone, failing to provide that initial impact and getting the ax as a result.

Joyce has had a mediocre Spring Training, likely explaining the rapid turnover. Still, Joyce is a prime bounce-back candidate after a dreadful 2018 season in which he hit under the Mendoza line. He's practically unusable at this point in his career against lefties, failing to adjust whatsoever. His line against righties is far more acceptable, making him more of a platoon option than anything else.

While an unusual move considering veteran Nick Markakis plays the same position and measures out to similar overall numbers, Joyce is more insurance in the outfield.

Now let's just hope Craig Kimbrel is next.
