The Dallas Cowboys appear to have made minimal -- if any -- progress as it pertains to getting quarterback Dak Prescott signed to a long-term contract extension with March right around the corner.

If we are to take Jerry Jones at his word, however, a Prescott extension is still at the very top of the priority list heading into the offseason considering the Cowboys owner called his quarterback "a family member" that he wants to take care of.

Prescott set new career bests in passing yards, yards per attempt, and passing touchdowns under offensive coordinator Kellen Moore last season. The one sticking point appears to be the rumor that Prescott has demanded a contract that pays him upwards of $40 million per season.

Jones and head coach Mike McCarthy have both publicly praised Dak over the last few days, which seems like a strong indication they want to get a deal done.

This has to be one of the weirdest contract negotiations in recent memory. Both parties want a reunion to the point that nearly everyone involved in this negotiation has done nothing but heap praise on the other parties in this process. However, signing Prescott to a contract still seems like it's miles away from materializing.
