Priyanka Chopra to Receive Danny Kaye Humanitarian Award By TheQuint

Priyanka Chopra Jonas will receive the Danny Kaye Humanitarian Award for being the voice for children in different parts of the world and creating awareness about issues faced by them.

“UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador @priyankachopra will receive the Danny Kaye Humanitarian Award at our #UNICEFSnowflake Ball this December! An incredible voice for children — including on her recent visit to Ethiopia,” UNICEF announced in a post on Twitter.

Priyanka has been working with UNICEF since 2006, she was appointed as the national UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Child Rights on 10 August 2010 and global Ambassador in 2016.

Apart from her work in India, the actor has visited refugee children in different parts of the world, including Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and most recently, Sudan.

UNICEF created the award as a tribute to American actor-singer and philanthropist Danny Kaye who worked extensively with the organisation. He was the first ambassador-at-large of UNICEF in 1954 and received the French Legion of Honour in 1986 for his years of work with UNICEF.

Priyanka took to social media to thank UNICEF and said that she was “incredibly humbled” with the honour.
