Kolkata, Mar 28 (UNI) I-League club Mohun Bagan has decided to donate Rs 20 lakh towards West Bengal State Emergency Relief Fund to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The club has decided to stand by the call given by our Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and help the state government eradicate this disease," the Club official handle tweeted.

To fight the pandemic Sachin Tendulkar, star badminton player PV Sindhu, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and wrestler Banjrang Punia have come forward to contribute for this cause.

Earlier, Saurashtra Cricket Association also donated a sum of Rs 21 lakh each to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund and the Chief Minister of Gujarat's Relief Fund to combat coronavirus pandemic.

Five more positive COVID-19 cases were reported from West Bengal on March 27, taking the total number of cases in the state to 15.
