Pakistan's woman politician dies of coronavirusBy uniindia
Islamabad, May 20 (UNI) A woman politician from Pakistan and member of ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) died of novel coronavirus on Wednesday.
Shaheen Raza,60, was on ventilator support since Monday at Mayo Hospital in Lahore.
The lawmaker from Gujranwala displayed Covid symptoms on Saturday and was put under quarantine.
Later, she tested positive for the virus and was shifted to a isolation ward, Dawn reported.
Raza, also the member of Punjab Assembly, had been inspecting quarantine centres for some time.
As per doctors, she was also a patient of diabetes and hypertension.
President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed grief over the demise.
She was elected to the Punjab Assembly on a special seat in 2018.
Meanwhile, Pakistan's Covid tally on Wednesday reached 46,206 which includes 986 deaths.
Sindh bears the maximum burden of 18,964 cases.
