Fifty Flights Delayed after Fire Alarm Set off at Singapore's Changi Tower

A hoax fire alarm alert at Singapore's Changi Control Tower here, necessitating its evacuation led to a large-scale flight disruption here on Thursday with fifty departing ones getting delayed and nine arriving ones diverted.

The control tower was evacuated after a fire suppression system was activated, said the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS).

Flight operations at Changi Airport, which were disrupted just after midnight, were restored at 1.40 am after the control tower resumed operations, said Rosly Saad, director of air traffic services at CAAS.

"There was no fire," the Channel News Asia quoted Rosly as saying.

Fire Breaks out in Kolkata's Anandapur

Rescuers Resume Search for 4 Korean Climbers on Nepal's Mount Annapurna

Rescuers took advantage of improved weather on Nepal's Mount Annapurna to press ahead with a search for four South Korean climbers and three Nepali guides and have a possible location for them, officials said Wednesday, 22 January.

Nine soldiers and seven civilian rescuers were digging through ice and snow on the Annapurna trekking trail and had made progress in determining their possible whereabouts, said army spokesman Bigyan Dev Pandey.

Snow and bad weather on Tuesday, 21 January stalled the rescue operation.

Trump Invites Netanyahu to US for Peace Plan Talks
