New Delhi, Sep 19 (UNI) Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday approved the setting up of a coordination committee and publicity committee for the upcoming assembly elections in Telangana and also appointed film star Vijayashanti as the party’s star campaigner in the state.
According to AICC general secretary Ashok Gehlot,’’the 52 member coordination committee is chaired by AICC incharge for Telangana R C Khunthia while the convenor is N Uttam Kumar Reddy and comprises AICC secretaries Madhu Yashki Gowd and G Chenna Reddy.’’
The Congress president also constituted a four member publicity committee chaired by K Venkat Reddy and co chaired by former MLA S Gangaram.
The Congress president also appointed film star Vijaya Shanthi as the star campaigner as well as the advisor to the election campaign committee of Telangana PCC.
Telangana is expected to go for elections soon with the State government recommending to the president the dissolution of the state assembly.
