The most important achievement claimed by the Yogi government during its first anniversary of ruling is its record of law and order situation. Yogi Adityanath's refrain has been that the police would not spare any criminal which fires at them.

"The police have a right to fire back on being shot at by the criminals," he has said on several occasions.

The government launched a drive to establish the rule of law and order in the state. It adopted a zero tolerance towards crime and criminals. While following that policy, 1294 encounters between the police and criminals have taken place so far in the past one year. As a result of this, 3065 wanted criminals have been arrested while 45 have been killed.
