After attending a banquet dinner at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday, 25 February, United States Donald Trump along with wife Melania Trump departed from Delhi.

Addressing a press conference earlier, Trump said, “PM Modi said he wants people to have religious freedom. They have worked really hard on it. I heard about the individual attacks but I did not discuss it. It is up to India.”

Speaking at a meeting with CEOs in the day, Trump said that the “markets” will shoot up by “thousands” of points if he wins the upcoming US presidential election.

Earlier, during the joint press statement with PM Modi, Trump said that the two countries agreed to cooperate to deal with “radical Islamic terrorism.” Modi, in his address, too said that they have decided to enhance efforts to hold supporters of terrorism accountable.

Donald Trump will be the sixth US president ever to travel to India and the first one to land in Ahmedabad, where he will be joined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a roadshow and a joint address before a crowd of around one lakh people, reported PTI.

Late on Sunday, Trump, left for his maiden visit to India for talks with top Indian leadership during which the two countries are expected to significantly ramp up bilateral relations, especially in the defence and strategic ties.

Hours before the visit of US President Trump to Agra on Monday, the entry to the Taj Mahal will be closed to visitors in view of high-security arrangements, top officials said.

According to Agra DM Prabhu N Singh, Trump is scheduled to arrive at the Taj Mahal complex at 5:15 pm and will spend about an hour at the famed 17th century mausoleum.

"People can visit the Taj in the morning but tickets will be issued till 11:30 am, and by noon or so the premises will be cleared of visitors in view of the high-security arrangements for President Trump's visit," he was quoted by PTI as saying on Sunday.

Organisations representing the 1984 gas tragedy survivors on Monday staged a protest in Bhopal against the visit of US President Donald Trump claiming his dispensation was not extending help in the ongoing trial into what has been widely acknowledged as the world's worst industrial disaster.

Rachna Dhingra of the Bhopal Group for Information and Action said protesters at Bhopal's Iqbal Maidan registered their anger at the US government not serving summons issued by a court in MP's capital city to Dow Chemicals, an American multi-national company, PTI reported.

Dow Chemicals is the current owner of Union Carbide, from whose factory in Bhopal poisonous gas leaked on the intervening night of December 2-3, 1984, killing 3,000 people and affecting 1.02 lakh.

The protesters held placards alleging the Trump administration was sheltering fugitives of the Bhopal tragedy. Protesters in Indore held placards demanding that US investment in India's agriculture, animal husbandry and dairy sectors be banned.

US President Donald Trump was accorded a traditional welcome at the ITC Maurya hotel in the national capital following his arrival from Agra.

Trump, who reached Delhi after attending the Namaste Trump event at Ahmedabad and a visit to Taj Mahal, is staying at the Grand Presidential Suite of the five-star property located in the Diplomatic Enclave in Chanakyapuri, PTI reported.

Sources said he was given a traditional welcome with flowers and 'teeka' and he entered the hotel along with his family through its back entrance in view of security threat.

The entire hotel has been done up in a way to reflect the 'Namaste Trump' tagline and also the branding of ITC Maurya, the logo of which is 'Namaste'.

The hotel is under a heavy security cover with personnel from Delhi Police and US Secret Service working in close coordination to ensure the security of POTUS and his family.

He has joined the likes of former US presidents George W Bush, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, who have stayed at the 438-room property during their visit to India.

On the issue of a trade deal, PM Modi said, "India and US are committed to openness, fair and balanced trade... We have agreed to initiate negotiations for a big trade deal. We are confident that it will yield good results."

Trump, on his part, too said that there was a focus on having a comprehensive trade deal during the talks.
