The PUBG Global Championship will be a LAN/Online hybrid tournament, set to begin later this year on Nov. 19.
This year has continued to hit esports pretty hard, with the continuing problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic making tournaments logistically difficult. PUBG Eports has been no exception to this, having previously hosted the PGI.S as a LAN/Online hybrid tournament. Now, the PUBG Esports Team has announced that the same set-up will be occurring for the PUBG Global Championship.
A statement from the team reads: "The year 2021 was another tough one due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, but weâve done our best to continue PUBG Esports globally by hosting PGI.S and 2 PUBG Continental Series events. We are now announcing the return of our beloved finale of PUBG Esports, the PUBG Global Championship 2021."
Teams from outside of the tournament region will be invited to fly to Paradise City in Incheon, South Korea to participate. The event will run from Nov. 19 up until Dec. 19, with 32 teams from all over the world competing for the $2 Million prize pool. Twelve teams from Asia, eight teams from Europe, six teams from APAC, and six teams from the Americas region will be invited.
The PUBG Global Championship will consist of a five-week long tournament including one week of Rank Decision, three weeks of Weekly League, and a Grand Final during the last week.
More details regarding the PGC 2021 are set to be revealed by the PUBG Esports team after PGS5, set to run until Oct. 5.
