Shillong, Jan 24 (UNI) Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Friday inaugurated
the Shillong Heritage Walk.
The walk started from Wards Lake to Raj Bhawan and culminated at Pinewood Hotel.
Sangma said that Shillong has many historic locations and the idea of the Shillong
Heritage Walk is to make it more structured and organized so that the tourists enjoy the
heritage of Shillong.
The Shillong Heritage Walk which will be open to public and tourists from next week
will take one through a three hour guided walk of the British history of the city to acquaint
one through with the city’s rich colonial heritage and history through its buildings,
architecture and parks.
The heritage sites include Earle Sanatorium, Khyndailad, Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Bhahmo Samaj, the Presbyterian Church, the Legislative Council Building, Shillong Club,
Secretariat Hills, the Centenary Monument, the PWD Quartets, All Saints Church, Raj
Bhawan, Pine Wood Hotel, Wards Lake.
