Beijing, Apr 23 (Beijing) China on Tuesday proposed building a maritime community with a shared future, saying maritime peace and tranquility concern the security and interests of all countries and need to be jointly maintained and cherished.
Chinese President Xi Jinping, also chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks during a group meeting with the heads of foreign delegations, including one from India, invited to participate in the multinational naval events marking the 70th founding anniversary of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy International Fleet Review (IFR) in Qingdao in Shandong province.
Participation by the Indian Navy in the PLA Navy IFR is part of the efforts towards deepening the military-to-military relations between India and China, which is in keeping with the strategic guidance provided by the leaders of both countries, said the Indian Embassy here.
