The mother and daughter of a Nagpur-based crime reporter were found murdered near their house in Nagpur on Sunday.

The two were missing since Saturday evening and their bodies were discovered behind a school building in Sitabuldi area of Nagpur.

Usha S Kamble (54) and a year-and-half-old Rashi had gone to the market near their house in Dighori. Their bodies were found in sacks in a gutter with their throats slit.

The motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained but police suspect professional or personal rivalry. The Nagpur Police detained two people in connection with the murder, according to news agency IANS.

Meanwhile, PTI reported that a resident of Pawanputra Nagar, Ganesh Rambaran Shahu (26) was arrested. According to the police, Shahu and the victim had clashed over chit fund money. During the altercation, the woman fell from the stairs. Shahu then slit her throat. He then also slit the toddler's throat to stop her from wailing.
