SNEH observes Int'l Day of PeaceBy HTS

India, Sept. 23 -- The Society for Nature, Education and Health (SNEH) organised an event on the International Day of Peace here on Thursday.

A skit competition on "Peace and harmony" was organised among students of eight educational institutions. The MSW students of National Institute of Social Sciences (NISS) were awarded for best skit and Ekamra College's Sasmita Samantray for best performer.Chief guest MSME and W and CD Minister Prafulla Samal distributed the prizes among the winners.

State Social Welfare Board Chairperson Latika Pradhan, Culture Secretary Manoranjan Panigrahi, ECI Chief Advisor Dr Bhagaban Prakash and State Child Rights Commission member Sandhyabati Pradhan graced as guests and discussed about the significance of the day.

In the aftermath of communal conflict in Kandhamal in 2008, the SNEH reoriented its goal to focus on peace building, reconciliation and conflict management by establishing 'SAMPRITI', a centre for peace and nonviolence in Bhubaneswar on the occasion of International Day of Peace in 2009.
