Karan Johar is ready for next directorial: Here's when he will finalise the castBy IndiaToday

Karan Johar turns a year older today, and he is celebrating his big day in New York, away from the media glare. There's cause for celebration for fans too! Karan has begun working on his next directorial venture, and has already locked the script.

In an interview with DNA, the filmmaker said, "I hope to come back refreshed and rejuvenated. I'm excited about the break and I am also excited that I have finalised the script for my next directorial venture that should roll next year. I'll cast for my new film after returning from New York."

Meanwhile, Karan has had his hands full with his duties as a producer. He is currently gearing up for the release of his next production, Dhadak, which is an adaptation of the Marathi blockbuster, Sairat. Janhvi Kapoor will make her debut in the film, opposite Ishaan Khatter.

Talking about Dhadak, Karan said, "Dhadak is important on two counts. It is the Hindi remake of Nagraj Manjule's celebrated superhit Sairat. And I hope our director Shashank Khaitan gives us a film that lives up to the standards set by the original. Dhadak is also important because we have in it two new actors - Janhvi and Ishaan, both of who are fine actors."

Produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and Zee Studios, Dhadak revolves around the theme of inter-caste love and honour killing. The film is set to hit the screens on July 20, 2018.
