1. Unidentified Person Booked for Sending Porn Clip, Lewd Messages in Gurugram

The police booked an unidentified man for allegedly sending obscene messages and a pornographic video to a 30-year-old woman in the city on Thursday, 22 August the police said.

According to the police, the victim is a resident of Sector 38 and works with a private company in the city. In her complaint, she stated that the suspect has been sending her obscene messages via WhatsApp and Short Message Service (SMS).

According to the police complaint, the victim has alleged that she has received at least 10 messages and one video of over three minutes from the accused, who remains unidentified.

2. Two Minor Brothers Booked for Raping 14-year-old Girl in Amritsar

The rural police on Friday, 24 August have booked two minors for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl at Granthgarh village, which falls under Ajnala tehsil, here in the district. The accused, residents of the same village, have been identified as Jagpreet Masih, son of Ninder Masih, and his brother Joban Masih.

Police confirmed that the accused brothers are minor but they did not reveal their age.

A complaint has been lodged against the duo at Ajnala police station. In her complaint, the mother of the victim said, “At around 3 pm on Thursday when I returned back to my house from work, I saw that the door of my house was locked from inside. My daughter was alone at the house. I repeatedly knocked the gate but no one opened the door. After some time, the accused Jagpreet jumped out from the window of my daughter’s room and rushed towards his brother Joban, who was waiting outside my house. The duo immediately fled from the spot.”

3. Murder Convict Arrested 7 Years After Jumping Furlough

The Thane Police Crime Branch has arrested a murder convict who was wanted for seven years after jumping furlough.

According to Crime Branch officers, Rafiq Sheikh (45) was picked up from Mumbra on Thursday, 22 August after police inspector Jayraj Ranaware, in charge of the Crime Branch Unit V, received a tip-off about his whereabouts.

“Our information indicated that Sheikh was wanted in a crime in Ratnagiri, and we accordingly picked him up for questioning. After sustained inquiries, he confessed that he had been convicted in a murder case in Ratnagiri and had later fled to Mumbra after securing furlough,” an officer said.

4. Financier Arrested for Killing ‘Close Friend’

A small-time financier is stated to have decapitated his close friend suspecting that the latter was plotting to eliminate him, at Miyapur on Thursday, 22 August night.

Within 24 hours of the beheading of autorickshaw driver P Praveen (24), whose torso and head were dumped at different places in Miyapur, the police picked up his close friends Srikanth and Srinivas.

According to Miyapur Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) S Ravi Kumar, the assailants, in an inebriated condition, took Praveen and his friend Rakesh to Dharmapuri kshetram area in an auto, where they attacked and killed Praveen.

5. Gurgaon: Man Hears Kids Talking About New Computers At School, Steals Them

A conversation between students outside the Government Senior Secondary School in Bhondsi regarding computers that the school had procured recently allegedly led to 10 such systems being stolen from the premises on 19 August.

Two men, identified as Anuj Kumar (20), who worked as a delivery man with a food-based application and is currently unemployed, and Bhola Prasad (28), have been arrested for the crime, said police. Both of them hail from UP, said police.

“The robbery was discovered by the security guard of the school. He was cleaning the premises when he noticed that the lock of the computer laboratory had been broken and some of the computers had gone missing. One of the 24 stools was also missing,” said Subhash Boken, PRO of Gurgaon Police. The computers and stools were donated to the school by Gteracy India, an NGO, last month.

6. Mumbai Teen Detained for Rape of Sister-in-Law Gets Bail

A 17-year-old boy, who was detained last month for allegedly raping his sister-in-law repeatedly since 2014, was granted bail by the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) on Wednesday.

On 24 July, a 30-year-old woman had filed a complaint with the police, alleging that her husband had assaulted her after walking in on her while she was being raped by his younger brother.

The woman has claimed that the juvenile first molested her in 2014 when they used to stay in Bihar. Even after he was scolded by his mother, the minor allegedly raped the woman again, the police said, adding that the accused had threatened to kill her if she informed her husband.

7. Youth Assaulted for Objecting to Stares by Group of Men in Chandigarh

A 20-year-old man was assaulted for objecting to stares by a group of unidentified youths in Sector 34 on Friday, 24 August.

The victim, Rakshit, hails from Guda village in Haryana’s Karnal. He is enrolled at Allen Institute in Sector 34 for NEET coaching. Rakshit told the police that he, along with his friends, Abhishek and Harmandeep, were relaxing in a park near Radha Madhav Mandir in Sector 34-C.

Around 7pm, three men sitting nearby started staring at them. When Rakshit objected to this, the men took offence and called in five more accomplices. The group then assaulted him with knives and rods, called him “fat”, and threatened to kill him if he messed with them again.

8. Six-Year-Old Girl Raped by Boys in School Washroom

A six-year-old student of a government school in Raipur was allegedly raped by three schoolmates, all aged 10, the police said.

“The incident took place on August 20 in a school in Raipur. As per the victim’s statement, she was sexually assaulted by two schoolmates in the bathroom of the school, while the third one stood guard outside,” Raipur superintendent of police (SP) Arif Sheikh said. The three accused have been booked, he said, but not detained.

The parents of the girl approached the police on Thursday, following which a rape and sexual assault case was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, he said.
